Wallpaper is hot!

Wallpapers have been around for centuries, at least since the Chinese began gluing rice paper to their walls (B.C.). Then somewhere in the 1600’s in France, the technique of block printing in a continuous pattern was born, and it’s continued an evolution into modern day trends.
Over the past few years wallpapers have quietly been making headway in mainstream decorating trends. Now with advancements in printing, and the artistry of talented designers the demand for wallpaper has reached a design crescendo.
Floral patterns have been blooming everywhere and will continue well into 2016. From large scale prints, increasingly popular still-lifes, to old school vintage inspired botanicals, they can be used in a variety of interior styles from classic to contemporary. These patterns will not only be used on the walls, but will make dramatic impact when they are placed on the ceiling as well.

In the coming year look for simple, clean, geometric wallpaper designs to bring order into our homes. For added impact we will see bold patterns being used in small spaces such as foyers and bathrooms. For a more chic look, expect to see the use of a single hue to create sophistication in areas such as bedrooms. Random and weathered geometric designs are predicted to be overwhelmingly popular in 2016.
Look for trompe l’oeil, or "fool the eye" wallpapers to become popular in 2016. With the advancement in digital printing almost any design motif is now achievable. It is predicted that we will see romantic pastoral landscapes, vibrant cityscapes, lush jungle scenes, leather looks and even stone and faux bois patterns hitting the walls of our homes in the coming twelve months.
Metallic and oxidized wallpapers will continue to be popular for 2016. Copper, silver, and gold motifs and perfect in making a space feel greater and deeper. Think metallic wallpapers that reflect light all over the place. Every change of light reveals new details of the wallpaper and looks down right glamorous!
